Latenight Shakeup!

The heads of NBC recently met up with Jon Stewart and his agent for a friendly meal. But, the underlying subtext was clear: wooing The Daily Show host to the peacock network.

Stewart's deal with Comedy Central is up in 2008.

In 2009, NBC announced that Conan O'Brien is expected to replace Jay Leno on The Tonight Show.

But now comes mumblings that NBC may opt to pay out O'Brien $40 million and keep Leno on Tonight, which would make room for Stewart on Late Night.

With O'Brien a free agent, we'd be surprised if Fox didn't try and lure him and Craig Kilborn to start their own latenight franchises.

It's all about to get very interesting!
